Network Measurements (NetNeg ‘26) on August 17, 2026:
“False, Unknown, and the Scientific Value of Not Knowing”.

The talk argues that an experiment has three outcomes, not two — supported,
refuted, and undecidable on the available evidence — and that our publishing
conventions file the last two together under “didn’t work.” False is knowledge
about the world; Unknown is knowledge about the limits of our observation. The
damage comes from reporting Unknown as False, closing a question the evidence
leaves open.
